Land Clearing

Land & Lot Clearing

Clearing land in central Maine is its own kind of work. You are dealing with mixed hardwood and softwood, stone walls, wet spots, and brush that has had decades to take over. Maybe you are opening up a building lot, taking back overgrown acreage, clearing a fence line, or widening a camp driveway. Either way, we take the trees, brush, and stumps down together and haul it all out in one job instead of piecemeal.

What we clear

What we clear

Building lots and house sites, overgrown back acreage, fence and boundary lines, driveways and camp roads, and view lines down to the water. We match the approach to the job. Selective clearing when you want to keep the good trees, or full clearing when you are starting from scratch.

How It Works

What to expect

  • Step 1

Walk the property and mark it out

We flag what stays and what goes, note wet areas and stone walls, and plan how material leaves the site.

  • Step 2

    Take down trees and brush

Trees come down, brush gets cut, and everything is moved to a staging area for processing.

  • Step 3

    Grind stumps or pull them

Depending on what you are building, we grind stumps flush or remove them entirely.

  • Step 4

    Chip, haul, or pile

Material gets chipped on site, hauled away, or stacked for firewood, whatever fits your plan and budget.

Questions

Land & Lot Clearing: common questions

Do you need a permit to clear land in Maine?

For most lots away from water, clearing on your own private land does not require a state permit, though your town may have local rules so it is worth a call to your code enforcement officer first. The big exception is land in a shoreland zone near a lake, river, stream, or wetland, where Maine limits how much you can cut. Our Maine tree removal permits and laws guide walks through the shoreland rules, and we will flag anything on your lot that needs a closer look before we start.

How much does it cost to clear 1/2 acre of wooded land in Maine?

There is no flat per-acre number because a half acre of light brush and saplings is a completely different job from a half acre of heavy mature timber with big stumps to pull. What moves it is the density and size of the trees, the terrain and how wet or steep it is, the number and size of stumps, equipment access, and whether the material gets chipped on site, hauled away, or left as firewood. We walk the lot and give you a free, no-obligation written price. Send the contact form to set it up.

How much does land clearing cost in Maine?

It varies a lot with acreage, how dense and large the trees are, terrain, and how you want the material handled. A light brush-and-small-tree clearing is far cheaper than a heavily wooded acre with big stumps to pull. We give free on-site estimates. Send the contact form and we will walk the lot with you.

Do you remove the stumps too?

Yes. We can grind them flush or pull them out completely depending on what you are putting in, whether that is lawn, garden, a foundation, or a driveway. Tell us the end goal and we will clear it to match.

Can you clear just part of a lot or keep certain trees?

Absolutely. Selective clearing is something we do all the time. We flag the trees you want to keep for shade or screening and clear around them, or open up a view line while leaving the rest of the woods intact.
