Tree Trimming & Pruning
Good pruning is the cheapest insurance a tree owner can buy. Clearing deadwood, lifting limbs off the roof, and thinning out a heavy crown keeps a healthy tree standing through the next ice storm, and keeps it from turning into a removal job down the road. We prune for safety, structure, and clearance across the Kennebec Valley.
When it is time to prune
Prune when limbs hang over the roof or driveway, when deadwood is piling up in the canopy, when a young tree needs shaping so it grows with good structure, or when a dense crown is catching too much wind and snow. Done right and at the right time of year, pruning adds years to a tree and lowers its storm risk.
What to expect
- Step 1
Walk the property with you
We point out which limbs are hazards, which ones are crowding the house, and what the tree actually needs. Nothing more than that.
- Step 2
Prune to proper cuts
Crews make clean cuts at the right points so the tree heals well. No topping, no stubs, no damage that invites rot.
- Step 3
Clear roof, drive, and lines
We lift the canopy off structures and create the clearance you need without butchering the tree.
- Step 4
Clean up completely
All trimmings chipped and hauled, the area raked before we leave.
Done right, cleaned up, done
- Roof, driveway, and walkway clearance
- Deadwood and hazard-limb removal
- Structural pruning for young trees
- More light and a healthier canopy

Tree Trimming & Pruning: common questions
When is the best time to prune trees in Maine?
Late winter into early spring is best for most hardwoods. The tree is dormant, so the cuts heal cleanly as it wakes up in the spring. Dead, broken, or hazardous limbs are a different story and should come off any time of year. If your tree would be better off waiting a season, we will tell you.
Will pruning hurt my tree?
Proper pruning helps a tree; bad pruning hurts it. We never top trees or leave stubs. Cuts are made at the right points so the tree seals over and stays healthy.
Can you get limbs off my roof?
Yes. Clearance pruning over roofs, driveways, and walkways is one of the most common jobs we do. It protects the building and cuts down on the debris that ends up in your gutters.
